The primary advantage offered by VOIP is that you can make a PC-to-PC telephone call with no charge. This is a very important benefit of this technology over the standard telephone. However, there are still a number of issues to resolve.
Stability of connection
An essential issue with VOIP is the possibility that a part of your conversation may be dropped. This is due to the real-time nature of voice calls. If some packets arrive late, these will be dropped and the result is that the recipient will not hear that part of the conversation. The possibility that this will happen depends on the amount of traffic in the network and its capability.
Compatibility issues
VOIP communications are digital in nature. This means that voice is converted into digital code, which is actually made up of ones and zeros. The only reason why they can be transformed back into voice is that a certain standard or protocol is used in converting them into code. The problem arises when the equipment used by the caller and the recipient use different standards or protocols. Naturally, this will result in failure to communicate.
Much of the disadvantages that plague VOIP are technical in nature. This means that as technology improves and the organizations and companies finally agree on the standards and protocols to use, the above issues are expected to be resolved.

VOIP providers are out to make a good sale, offering amazing plans for the service. But better be careful before you subscribe to any service. Check the fine prints.
The extra cost of other VOIP features
Not all VOIP features are free. The added service could mean additional fees on your bill. Your VOIP provider may not say it outright and trick you into believing that everything's for free and you're getting the best features.
Limited promos for low call charges
Low call charges don't go on for long. They are available during the promo period, so better watch out for expiration. Take advantage of the promo as long as it lasts. After that, try to limit your calls. Also don't be mistaken with the low call charges. Some only last for months. After the promo periods, they revert to their slightly expensive charges.
Limited free emergency services
Some users complain of the limited free emergency service. You can only get connected to few hotline numbers. Make sure that you're clear about all the features and limitations of your VOIP service.

VOIP, like other Internet technologies, has undergone many upgrades since it came out.
VOIP service providers invest on high-end technology and make the service more user-friendly. Here are some of the best features:
VOIP feature 1: Voice-streaming technology to video
This technology allows for better communication, even for long distance calls. Users are
given options for upgrades on their VOIP feature. But before you subscribe to any service,
be sure to check the quality of the voice-streaming through reviews.
VOIP feature 2: Voice-to-text transcription
You get a record of the conversation through this feature. This is a nifty addition to the
well-improved service of VOIP over the years. However, the quality of voice-to-text
transcription is not the same for all.
VOIP feature 3: VOIP for iPhone and Android
VOIP is now available for iPhone and Android, which makes the use of this service
wide-range and accessible. Hopefully, there's more to expect from this feature in the coming years.

When you say VOIP, you're probably thinking of cheap calls and all the other benefits. But
there are also some downsides to this service. Here are some of them:
Voice transmission quality
Your VOIP service is dependent on your Internet connection. You need high-speed Internet
if you want good quality for voice transmission. Some interruptions and problems with your
Internet can easily result in hassles when using VOIP.
Emergency calls
It's easy to trace your calls with local phone service. So if you're reporting an
emergency or accident to 911 or other hotlines, you're sure to get help even if there's
trouble with communication. But with VOIP, tracing the call is not easy. In case of power
shutdowns, you cannot use this service.
VOIP security issues
Like other Internet technologies, VOIP also has security issues concerning the possibility
of identity theft, virus attacks, and malware infection. Aside from these, you also have
to counter call tampering, phishing scams, and spamming when using the VOIP service.
These issues, however, are addressed by some providers. It will do you well to choose the
service plans wisely.

VoIP, or voice over internet protocol, is fast becoming the leading choice when it comes to internet telephony due to its affordability, coverage, customizability and power. Because of faster and faster internet connections, VoIP is continuously developing its system of providing fast, reliable and equally powerful digital telephony for the computer-using population. But, with the advent of open source technology in terms of software, both in the fields of computing and telecommunications, most Linux users address the rapid development of VoIP as something that would eventually be the epitome of open source digital telecommunications.
Yes, VoIP Linux is ready, but are Linux users ready for it? There are applications in which Linux would be compatible with VoIP, but, of course, you would need first a VoIP provider, and there is a lot of providers out there in the market. Some provide free services, while some have paid service subscriptions, in which the former does not allow access to conventional phones. On the other hand, the latter does, but this still leaves some questions unanswered, such as the effects it has on open source computing and the risks it currently has regarding security and privacy since most networks don't have data encryptions. In addition, since Internet access by mobile phones are still being developed for faster connectivity, what would the cellular networks do about the issue which pertains to cellular networks not having enough power such as wireless connectivity in order to provide seamless VoIP, if not only internet access.

Panaway Technologies, Inc., a little known yet competitive and fast expanding internet communications service solutions provider, is now ready to launch their 3-in-1 offer. Also, the current release is referred to by most technical buffs as the first and only Triple Play VOIP product and service in the present VOIP market. This is because the Panaway products and service converge VOIP, internet connectivity, HDTV, and video on demand in a single product and service.
So if you need to have a VOIP service that is packaged with fast internet connectivity, flexible HDTV viewing, and video on demand, Panaway has just the right solutions for your needs. It's pretty hard to think that people have waited for such a service since the beginning of the internet, only to be answered after 20 years of vast technological development. Plus, it is as affordable as the cheapest internet service, the cheapest HDTV service, and the lowest VOIP rates converged, thus promising to be a killer service sometime in the very near future.
But, always know first the details of each service that comes with the Panaway service, if not from other service providers. It would be best if you seek advice from professionals, or technical experts, in the field - just in case you don't know the difference between VOIP and an HDTV. Yes, this would be a killer service, if not the only killer service with these features in the current market, but do consider things such as bandwith, connection speed, clarity, and of course, pricing. After all, communication service, together with multimedia dissemination service, need not be as expensive as large industrial communications equipment.

VoIP literally and figuratively revolutionized the world of communication. Its great benefits, together with the myriad of wireless technology, are being recognized by most peoples; no wonder the number of VoIP users increases as days go by. While it used to be that only business enterprises patronize this technology, the VoIP market is now extending to residential customers and other sectors.
One is the education sector. In the recent years, VoIP has aided a lot of schools to cut down expenses on phone charges and administrative cost. Not only that, the communication systems of schools has tremendously improved. Because of these, several education districts in the United States opted to use VoIP. Adopting this technology has improved parent-teacher relationships and parent-student communication.
The dawning of 2006 has witnessed VoIP as it conquered classrooms, making the whole system easier and simpler for everyone. Now students enjoy broadband class lessons and phone calls via the net. At first, it was welcomed by doubts and skepticism. Nonetheless, these apprehensions were proved to be wrong as VoIP continuously improves its performance and provides solutions to our needs. I believe that, if used properly, VoIP will improve the system of education not only in the United States but in the other countries as well.

VoIP is clearly among the hottest innovations in technology today. Its introduction has radically changed the entire communications technology. As the number of internet subscribers continues to increase across America, people are also starting to ask whether VoIP technology can help them reduce their call cost. In order to respond to this, however, it is necessary to understand first how the technology works and the possible cost of switching to it.
VoIP functions by transforming the voice signals received by the telephone handset into digital signals. Then these digital signals are again transformed into voice signals before they come out at the other end of the line. If you spend a fortune just for phone bills, then VoIP can surely help you lower your call costs. For, the technology can be used to make any call regardless of the distance or the region. Of course, one important condition is that the recipient of your call should also have an internet or VoIP connection.
All you have to do then is to evaluate your most recent telephone bills. Should you decide to avail the service, then choose a package that will work best for your cost cutting attempt. VoIP providers offer various contracts. Pick the best deal for you.

One can't avoid accidents. Such incidents happen without anyone knowing it until it is too late. Accidents may be no cause for worry. However, there are some other accidents that can actually be threatening to a person's life.
Such accidents call for an emergency. Of course, emergencies call for the fastest solution and help. There's always 911 for everyone. Or, is there? Don't get me wrong. I know for a fact that 911 responds really quickly to calls. That is, if you use the telephone to contact them. But then again, what happens if a person uses the internet to contact the emergency number, specifically 911?
Some, if not most, people will agree that calling through the internet is worth the money that the person is paying for. Voice quality and service are excellent. However, there's one problem. Calling 911 over VoIP can pose a serious threat. By this, I mean that the call doesn't get connected to emergency dispatchers of 911. Instead, the call connects to the call centers of 911. Therefore, the call can't be quickly located by the emergency service.
Reports say that the cost of improving the 911 system for VoIP is one of the different reasons that some VoIP service providers take time in featuring a 911 service. Whatever the reason, it is important that such a service be implemented immediately. We'll never know when accidents will happen.

Voice over internet protocol seems to have it all and it does. There's nothing wrong with VoIP-enabled phone units, but what about the VoIP services being offered by VoIP companies? I suggest that you choose wisely with service providers. There have been poor reviews from other subscribers with some VoIP service providers.
The messages are all delayed and sometimes connection crackles. In short, the services are, well, very poor indeed. What's a wonderful VoIP enabled phone for if the service provider isn't giving you the best quality of service? So, read VoIP reviews, know your phone, and most especially, go for the best service-provider. You wouldn't want to waste a perfectly good phone with lousy choppy services, would you?

Voice over Internet Protocol or simply VoIP, is the next big thing. It has revolutionized the world of technology and communication. It has crossed the boundaries of plain-jane phone calls into easier, more flexible, and even more cheaper phone calls.
Compared to traditional phone systems, the VoIP paved the way for communication using different mediums. Now, you can communicate with anyone using the computer or telephone. Just make sure that the medium like the phone, is VoIP enabled. But manufacturer's nowadays produce gadgets that are compatible with almost anything.

To measure VoIP bandwidth you need a bandwidth calculator. In many cases it is important to reduce the bandwidth, especially in wide network areas. This is to reduce overhead costs. This is an experimental subject for many companies employing VoIP as it becomes more and more necessary for network growth. Some of the well-known ways to reduce overhead are RTP header compression, silence suppression and RTP multiplexing.
VoIP Calculator allows you to calculate your VOIP's bandwidth for free. These calculators include Erlangs and Lines, Minutes and Lines, Lines and IP, and Erlangs and Bandwidth. They greatly help in analyzing and designing your VoIP technology.

VoIP has made its way into the market, and the consumers are beginning to realize the advantages and usefulness of the VoIP. So why use cellphones? Cellphone companies have been charging their users at a not-so-cheap price, so I suggest you try the services offered by VoIP. Almost all gadgets nowadays can be VoIP enabled and it's most useful if you're doing business round the clock. It's automatically internet operated, use the phone, use the net, all at the same time, with less hassle, and at a much cheaper price.

VoIP or voice over internet protocol is fast taking over the market, it's a multi-tasking service provider, allowing users to have voice transactions through internet connections, for internet, computer, and phone users nationwide. voIP is widely used, most especially in the stock market and call center establishments. Some VoIP service providers only allow communication to its users with other VoIP users, but then, several VoIP service providers have expanded their services, and are now offering communication to its users with non-VoIP users, with the use of IP-enabled technologies.

You think the voIP is advanced enough as it is, it can now be combined with Wi-Fi, the voWiFi. Sounds complicated, techy and expensive? No, no, and no. Take the voIP Wi-Fi phone, it's basically a phone handset, but, when used with Wi-Fi access points, the user would not have to pay the full cost of the call, because of the Wi-Fi coverage. All you have to do is have your gadgets Wi-Fi enabled, use your phone in Wi-Fi covered spots, you wouldn't have to pay those expensive phone bills.
