Internet Protocol is essential for the communication process between networks that are packet-switched. Packet-switched network – now, that is another Telephony term.
Every time we make a call using the Telephony, it is safe to say that what is being transmitted is not the voice, but the sound produced by codes assigned by the computers. Though the sound we hear over the
mobile phone does not differ from the voice of the one talking to us, still Telephony makes the communication process by transmitting codes and not the sound itself. This process is what I call the magic of Telephony.
So much for the magic, let us go back to packet-switching. This is the same as SMS. Every time we send messages over Telephony, they are literally divided into short, equal-length messages. These are the packets. Packet networks use the technique in order to transmit messages in an equal cadence over the
wireless communication process. So, long messages require more packets, but the transmission is not delayed. We can not even notice this process take place during our calls.
