Communication is the means by which two or more people send and receive messages to each other. It has been and continues to be a very indispensable part of human existence without which the world will be unimaginable. The way people communicate with one another has benefited a lot with the advancement of technology.
Today, we are blessed with tools, machines, processes and techniques that were developed to make communication much easier. One of the developments of communication technology is the Voice over Internet Protocol or simply VoIP. It is a technology which allows users to make
telephone calls using an internet connection rather than a regular or analog phone.
This is how VoIP works. When placing a call through VoIP using a computer connected through the internet, the number is dialed on the keyboard and then routed through a cable modem. The other party will now pick up the phone and the conversation starts. The voice signal is converted by VoIP into digital signal that travels over the internet and then back again into voice signal so you can speak with anyone with a regular phone.
The good thing about VoIP is that you need not pay for the calls that you made using the VoIP, as long as you are subscribed to the service and maintain a
broadband internet connection. You can also talk for long hours using the VoIP as long as the other person you are calling also has an internet connection. It is also possible for VoIP users to call anyone else in the world who has a regular phone, whether it be domestic or
international call.
